No! We completely understand you may not be able to commit to the entire event. Leaving early is not a problem at all. For some plantings, such as Cool Schools half day shifts are available and will be a option on the registration form.

In case of inclement or severe weather, events may be rescheduled or cancelled. The rescheduled event is not always open to volunteers. We will still plant in rain so long as it is safe to do so. We do our best to inform volunteers as soon as any decision is made regarding the cancellation of an event. It is usually decided no more than 2-3 days before the event so we can make a decision based on the most updated forecast. Volunteers will receive an email to the provided address on the registration form should weather effect an event.

All tools are provided. We encourage volunteers to bring their own gloves, but we do have some available.

Snacks and water are provided at park plantings and NeighborWoods events. Lunch is provided at Cools Schools plantings. We do our best to provide options for common allergies, but cannot guarantee there has not been cross-contamination with an allergen.

We are closely monitoring CDC recommendations regarding the spread of COVID-19. As our events take place outside, we currently leave it up to volunteer to decide if they would like to wear a mask.

We can accept volunteers 12 and older with a parent or guardian. We understand it is not always possible to leave younger children at home. Any accompanying children under the age of 12 will be hands-off educational observers only.

For Cool Schools volunteers, a background check is required by Dallas ISD. A link will be sent in the confirmation email for the background check. There is no cost for the background check.

You may follow our volunteer link on the Volunteer webpage.

Yes. Please fill out registration for each person individually. The form includes our liability waivers and each volunteer must complete it. This form also serves as a headcount for food and water ordering.

You will be moving mulch and planting trees. Please wear clothing that is okay to get dirty. Closed toe shoes are required. We provide volunteer T-shirts as well.
