Retired Director of Sacramento Parks
Michael Hellmann is a native of Colorado but was reared in Humble, Texas and has called Dallas home for 25 years. He hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry with an emphasis in Urban Forestry and Park and Recreation Management. The bulk of his career has been in municipal management with the City of Dallas in various capacities including urban forestry and arboriculture and park management. Now retired, he completed his career as The Assistant Director of Park Planning, Design, Engineering and Environment. Notable initiatives under Mike’s leadership include the City of Dallas Hike and Bike Trail Network Plan and the Downtown Parks Master Plan. Outside of Dallas Mike has also spent some time in his career working in a digital cartography and mist recently again a short stint in executive park management in Sacramento, California. Mike considers himself a Texan and calls Dallas home. He loves to travel and spends much of his time doing solo travel on planes, trains, and automobiles! He enjoys cycling, hiking, camping. He has a 18-year old daughter, the light of his life, who has started her first semester at Texas Tech University majoring in Special Education.
