Matt’s interdisciplinary career spanning over 15 years includes land development consulting in Southwest Florida, design-build self-employment, art, managing university facilities condition assessments, project management/ owner’s representation, and teaching landscape architecture design and construction courses.
He is currently a Whitacre Presidential Fellow in the Land-use Planning, Management, and Design Ph.D. program at Texas Tech University. His research interests encompass stormwater management, phytoremediation, and landscape performance in semi-arid landscapes. He believes economically quantifying the performance of multifunctional landscapes is essential to creating resilient communities. His preferred state of mind is found while riding a motorcycle across the Western United States.
