Texas Trees Foundation Plants 250 Trees at DISD Schools

November 2020 Cool Schools Update

November was a busy planting month! In the last two weeks, the Texas Trees Foundation Cool Schools team planted 75 trees at Burnet Elementary, 68 trees at Reinhardt Elementary, and 88 trees at John Ireland Elementary in Dallas, Texas.

Texas Trees Foundation also planted 13 additional trees at Salazar Elementary, creating a total of 62 trees planted this year on its campus. Frank Guzick Elementary received 6 additional trees for a total of 85 new trees on its campus.

One tree in particular, a 45-gallon Shumard Oak, was planted in the front of Frank Guzick Elementary to remember a late teacher.

Overall, in just the month of November, 250 trees were planted at Dallas ISD elementary schools. In addition to the trees, the Texas Trees Foundation Cool School team installed three tree benches at Reinhardt Elementary's outdoor learning area and added beautiful metal leaves that identify tree species at all six Cohort 1 Cool School campuses.

Finally, wildflower and rye grass seed were spread around the labyrinths with the expectation that next Spring we will see the flowers in full bloom.
