Beginning March 8 through April 13, 2024, the Texas Trees Foundation is giving away complimentary trees to North Texas residents who live in select neighborhoods.

Residents who qualify to receive one free tree may pre-register below (when registration is required) and/or live in or near the following locations. Note that some giveaways require registration and some do not.

The free trees, provided by Texas Trees Foundation’s NeighborWoods program, should preferably be planted in the public right-of-way in front of their house.
Each tree will be accompanied by a bag of mulch and tree planting and maintenance instructions. If a resident receiving a tree is concerned about utility line issues for any reason, they should call 811 before planting.
Studies show that more trees in neighborhoods increase residential property value and enhance community pride," said Rachel McGregor, Texas Trees Foundation Urban Forester. "The newly planted trees will help mitigate the urban heat island effect and improve the infrastructure of the city."
Through the seasonal tree giveaway program, the Texas Trees Foundation is able to provide complimentary trees to homeowners who live within a park desert to increase neighborhood tree canopy coverage. These trees will enhance the neighborhood in multiple ways such as providing shade, reducing heating/cooling costs, and beautifying the neighborhood.

"The newly planted trees will improve residents' quality of life and provide them with all the benefits that trees bring to their community, such as shade, clean air, and energy conservation."
