Super Grow XLV

The Touchdown for Trees Grand Finale on January 24, 2011 in Arlington was a fantastic success. Pictures from the event are available on the Texas Trees Foundation Facebook page. The event was hosted by the NFL Environmental Program, Texas Forest Service, the North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee and Texas Trees Foundation. All 12 cities came together to celebrate with representatives from the NFL, Dallas Cowboys, the North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee, Moore Tree Care, and invited guests including national, state and local decision makers, major donors, corporate VIPs, and staff from participating cities.

The NFL Environmental Program has a series of local initiatives designed to offset the environmental impact of the Super Bowl. They seek to incorporate environmental principles into the management of their events where those principles are consistent with sound business practices. These projects are designed, wherever possible, to leave a tangible benefit to the local host communities. All projects are developed in partnership with the local North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee and with a number of national, regional and local organizations using local resources. The 12 host communities are: Addison, Arlington, Dallas, Denton, Farmers Branch, Fort Worth, Frisco, Grapevine, Irving, Lewisville, Plano, and Richardson. Please click here for full program information.

The Climate Change Initiative for the NFL Environmental program includes the planting of trees to offset carbon. In partnership with the National Football League Environmental Program, the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Committee, SLANT 45, Moore Tree Care, and Texas Forest Service, Texas Trees Foundation will design and coordinate the community tree planting projects, education programs and a Grand Finale event.

Special thanks to Moore Tree Care for partnering with the Texas Trees Foundation in Super Grow XLV.
